17th December 2015: Tile Works Planning Application refused by Tandridge District Council
Tandridge District Council, (TDC), Planning Committee voted overwhelmingly to refuse the current application.
Quoting the Westerham Town Council update:
“Although TDC refused the application it was clear that several Councillors were keen to see the “brownfield site” developed for the employment, business regeneration and financial benefits to the Tandridge area, notwithstanding the several aspects of damage that would result from the substantial increase in traffic if the site were operated as a number of parcel distribution warehouses.
While some form of development is certain, the site is in the Green Belt and the Surrey Hills AONB. This status brings with it considerable restrictions on buildings and commercial activities that can legally take place.”
The Society are pleased with this outcome but recognise that this is only the first step of the process. We shall continue to be involved in all future proposals and advise members accordingly.
