Louisbourg – Stepping Stone to Quebec

Event Details

A talk by Alan Ewins, a former lawyer and a guide at Quebec House for the last four years. Alan has a particular interest and knowledge of the Battle of Louisbourg.

Given the commemoration of the D-Day Landings and the upcoming Canada Day celebration on 1st July, his talk covers the Seige of Louisbourg in 1758 and its importance in the Battle of Quebec the following year, leading to a redrawing of the World map in their wake. These campaigns were important naval and army collaberations in themselves and crucial to the development of the British Empire. He will closely follow the Wolfe’s involvement in both actions and draw relevent points of comparisons between them.

This talk has been postponed from 14th June date due to unforeseen problems at Westerham Hall.
