Beating the Bounds of Westerham Parish

The Westerham Society welcomes families, friends and visitors to join the residents of Westerham in checking our boundaries are still in place! Residents and visitors can explore our wonderful countryside and enjoy the views. In 2024 we revised a small section of the traditional route to travel via The Green in Westerham. The route revision avoids a small section across private land that was only publically available to walkers for one day and therefore allows people to walk the route on any day of the year. The whole walk is just under 12 miles, but only part of the route can be undertaken as you choose.

The traditional time for Beating the Bounds is the early May Bank Holiday Monday. However, in 2026 the event will be held on both the Saturday and the Monday and the Society will have representation on The Green for walkers to record their experience. The walk can be undertaken at any time after 8am and the day is free to enjoy. Anyone can download the route cards (see below) and follow the route (much of which is the old parish boundary) at any time. Everyone taking part in any of the activities or walking groups does so at their own risk. Here is a rough diagram of the main sections of the walk.
